American Federal Maritime Commission is reported to be closed due to the governmental shutdown caused by a non-agreement of the financial budget as a result of the disagreement between President Trump and the US Congress members.
The FMC will only be reinstalled to normal daily operations when the legislation is enacted and governmental services will be reopened. The FMC stated that all commission employees have been placed on furlough and are prohibited by law from performing any duties during the shutdown resulting in the fact that all commissionable functions have been suspended.
For time being there will be no responding on email or phone enquiries although the website remains operations without updates. Also FMC online filings and applications for particular service contracts will not be accepted nor will complaints, disputes be replied by their ombudsman services.
Furthermore the commission’s online databases — SERVCON, NVOCC and OCC Tariff Listings, Listings of FMC Licensed and Bonded OTI’s and the Agreement Notices and Library will not be accessible for public
