Port of Antwerp welcoming the “Energy Observer”
The Energy Observer – the world’s first hydrogen-powered vessel – is currently on a world tour that will take it to more than 100 ports in 50 countries over a period of six years.
It is now expected to dock in the port of Antwerp on 21 March. To mark the visit, Port of Antwerp is organising an Energy Festival with numerous activities for young and old.

From fossil fuels to renewable energy
Port of Antwerp is taking advantage of the Energy Observer’s visit to highlight the energy transition, i.e. the switch from oil, gas, coal and other fossil fuels to renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and water power. The aim is to develop towards a low-carbon, low-particulates world.
Port of Antwerp: energy transition leader
Sustainable energy plays a leading role at Port of Antwerp. With the largest integrated chemical cluster in Europe, Antwerp is a major production centre for hydrogen. And as a logistics centre the port is also an international hub for alternative fuels.
