Global air freight demand has returned to a slight growth during August but nevertheless the challenges that caused declining volumes earlier this year in June and July are still risky for the coming months.
Air freight volumes increased with 0.2% compared with 2014, with a 0.6% decline in JulyIATA stated in their monthly report. The organization stated tht rising cargo volumes in the Middle East, Africa and Europe helped to offset the slide in the Asia-Pacific and the Americas.
Tony Tyler, IATA General Director stated “Some of the key reasons for the earlier weakness – for example, downgraded growth expectations in emerging Asia, and the rebalancing of the Chinese economy toward domestic consumption – are still there “Even though world trade volumes have slightly picked up, the industry will have to work hard to match the strong finish to 2014,” he concluded.
