German based, Frankfurt Airport, reported positive figures for the first time during the current business year by achieving a cargo volume growth of 5% in April’s to a level of  181,948 tons.

Main growth driver from last April was the cargo throughput from the Far East. It achieved a tonnage growth of 9% to and from this region. Freight volumes on routes to/from China, Japan, and India recorded “dynamic double-digit growth.

“While cargo throughput declined during the first three months of 2016, cumulative cargo volumes in the year to April reached positive territory again for the first time, growing by 0.5%” stated airport operator s Fraport.

ACI, the Airports Council International trade body, revealed data indicating that freight traffic across their European airport members went up by 2.1% during Q1 of this year in comparison with last year’s figures.
