Frankfurt, Paris and Amsterdam, the three most important European cargo hubs have all reported a decline in cargo volumes during H1 2016.
Frankfurt, the number one EU airport, faced a decline of 2.1% over the first six months of 2016
Paris CDG, as second placed EU hub, reported a result of 4.3% down while third ranked airport Amsterdam registered a fall of 2.1% also.
UK’s London Heathrow was the only one reporting a positive half year result with an increase of 2.1%.However during June all four airports were facing declining volumes.
As the cargo statistics for July start to emerge, the EU hubs are faced with a mixed set of results, with Frankfurt registering a 2% drop in July to 177,840 tonnes, while Heathrow fell 5.4% y-o-y to 121,240 tons in July. London Stansted, boosted by a surge in charters, recorded a 4.4% increase in July to 20,732 tonnes
