According to the Hong Kong Marine Department, the total 2015 container volume fell 9.5pc to 20.1 million TEU year on year.

A total of 1.56 million handled by the port in December, represented a year-on-year drop of 10.6pc from 1.78 million TEU last year.

Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority reported a 8.7pc decrease in container handling in 2015 resulting to a total of 30.9 million TEU compared to 33.7 million TEU in the prior year.

The port moved 2.5 million TEU in December as opposed to a 2.9 million volume the year before, resulting into a 13.5pc drop year on year.

Shanghai, retaining his title as the world’s busiest container port, reported a 3.5pc year-on-year increase of container volume, leading to a 36.54 million TEU result in 2015.
