Malaysian Airlines CEO Christoph Mueller, has stated in a recent announcement the company is “technically bankrupt”. This follows after the news of the restructuring program which will see over a third of 6,000 staff losing their jobs.
The new CEO , Christophe Mueller, became in charge of Malaysian in May to try and deal with the failing airline. Malaysia Airlines hit the news twice last year; once for the unfortunate disappearance of flight MH370 and then secondly for the crash of MH17 being shot down by a suspected missile over Ukraine. Even before these disasters it was thought that Malaysia Airlines was struggling vor survival. The CEO was quoted saying the decline in performance of the Maylaysian was happening well before these tragedies in 2014.
Currently, the airline is operating normally and there have been no cancellation flights or disruptions in the service. Nevertheless the airline has announced they have offered jobs in their new restructured company to just 14.000 of their 20.000 staff. Malaysian airlines is currently undergoing a strong rebranding under the management of Christoph Mueller heading the business up. The CEO is known for pulling struggling airlines up and out of the danger of bankruptcy. However, the situation of Malaysian Airlines present status could prove to be his toughest job till date.
